State and local governments have their own set of laws on the books, some of which are ridiculous and even funny. We’ve found a few of the silliest dental-related laws.
- Sinking your teeth into someone is almost certain to get you in trouble, usually with an assault charge. In Louisiana, though, the laws are much more nuanced. If you bite someone with your natural teeth, you’ll end up with a “simple assault” charge. However, if you have fake teeth, you’re committing “aggravated assault.” We recommend refraining from biting someone altogether!
- In Arizona, you could get a citation for your smile. Grinning with more than one tooth missing is illegal, so brush and floss every day!
- Ladies in Vermont much technically obtain permission in writing from their spouses in order to obtain false teeth. Although we doubt anyone still enforces this policy, you may want to check with your dentist beforehand!
