Everyone’s been there: you arrive at the hotel after a long flight to discover that you forgot to pack your toothbrush. If it’s too late to go to a store and buy a new one, use these tips for cleaning your teeth without a toothbrush.
- Check with the hotel. Often, hotels offer complimentary hygiene items that are commonly forgotten, like razors, combs, and of course, toothbrushes. Call the front desk and ask if they can provide you with a toothbrush.
- If you have mouthwash and/or toothpaste, use them. Apply a small amount of toothpaste to a clean finger and use it to “brush” your teeth. Then, rinse with mouthwash. Though it won’t be as effective as a toothbrush, it will kill some of the bacteria in your mouth.
- If you can, eat some veggies or fruit. The high fiber and water content of, for example, celery or an apple can help remove plaque from your teeth. Just remember to rinse out your mouth thoroughly before you go to bed to remove any natural sugars.
Packing for a trip can be stressful and hectic. We suggest keeping an extra toothbrush and tube of toothpaste in your suitcase at all times.
