Dental Implants Specialist

A dental implant can replace a missing tooth by utilizing an artificial root. A dental implant can help to make someone feel less more confident in their smile.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are replacement tooth roots that are implanted into your jaw. They look like metal studs and are typically made of titanium. Although It’s impossible to replace your permanent teeth, dental implants are the next best thing.

Why do people prefer dental implants?

Dental implants offer an array of benefits. For example, the false teeth, or pontics, supported by dental implants are stronger and longer lasting than crowns and dental bridges. In fact, with proper care and maintenance, dental implants often last a lifetime.

Dental implants also make everyday tasks like chewing, speaking, and yawning easier. Furthermore, they preserve the health of your jawbone if you lose a tooth due to an accident or extraction.

Who is a good candidate for dental implants?

Any adult who is in good overall health and missing one or more teeth can benefit from dental implants. However, if you smoke cigarettes or are living with a chronic disease like diabetes, it’s important to share this information with Dr. Jue. You should also talk to Dr. Jue if you have a medical history of gingivitis, periodontitis, or any other gum-related issue.

What is the procedure for getting dental implants?

The process of getting dental implants typically takes between 6-12 months. While this may seem like a long period of time, it’s important to remember the end result is a beautiful smile that lasts a lifetime.

The first step in the implant process is the placement of your new tooth roots. Dr. Jue performs this procedure in-office, using local anesthesia. After placing your implants, he cleans the procedure sites and gives you a list of recovery instructions. You then wait three to six months for your new implants to fuse to your jawbone.

After your implants finish fusing to your jawbone, you return to A Beautiful Smile at Lake Pointe. During this appointment, Dr. Jue takes impressions of your teeth. If you only need one or two crowns, Dr. Jue can manufacture a same-day CEREC crown. For partial or full-mouth implants, he sends your impressions to a dental laboratory.

About a week later, you return for your third and final appointment. Dr. Jue removes your temporary crowns and replaces them with your permanent ones.
